Get to Know More About Bruno Mars

Peter Gene Hernandez (born October 8, 1985),  better known as Bruno Mars, is one of the most remarkable voices of today's music industry. He began making music at his early age. He's been raised in the Waikiki neighborhood of Honolulu by a Puerto Rican descent father; Pete Hernandez (a percussionist) and a Filipina blooded mother Bernadette "Bernie" (a hula dancer); the couple have a passion in music where greatly influenced Mars musical expertise.In addition, at his young age he was exposed to different music genres which later on honed his skills in diverse mix of reggae, rock, hip-hop and R&B. Mars' uncle was an Elvis Presley impersonator. By the age of three his uncle had him up on the stage performing. At the age of four Mars began performing daily with their family band, The Love Notes. He performed on various venues in his hometown, finished high school and later on moved to LA to pursue his career. His musical family greatly impacted on what he was now. He's been known not only by his music but also with how he passionately reached his success.

Bruno Mars' Type of Music

Mars is a multifaceted singer, songwriter, producer and musician who feels "performing" makes him at home. Music aficionados notice the versatility of Mars' voice and music. His music is noted for showing broad variety of styles and holds elements of different music genres. His music versatility as he acknowledged is influenced by assortment of artists from diverse genres. At his early age, he kicked off his talent in music and eventually incorporates reggae, rock, pop, soul, hip hop and R&B . 

Leap of his career:

At the year 2004 Mars signed a contract to Motown Records which "gone nowhere" and later on met Philip Lawrence who greatly influenced him in song writing and labeled themselves as The Smeezingtons. They co-wrote the song Long Distance, which was recorded in 2008 by R&B singer Brandy. It wasn't an easy start in his career, although his ultimate goal is to be a successful solo artist still he was willing to write and produce for other artists, both to help improve his songwriting and help him discover the type of artist he ultimately wanted to be. He was an acknowledged music producer, composing songs for Alexandra Burke, Travie McCoy, Adam Levine, Brandy, Sean Kingston, and Flo Rida. He also co-wrote the Sugababes' hit song "Get Sexy" and provided backing vocals on their album Sweet 7. His first musical appearance as a singer was in Far East Movement's second studio album Animal, featured on the track "3D".He was also featured on pastor and hip hop artist Jaeson Ma's debut single "Love" in August 2009. He reached fame as a solo artist after being featured on and co-writing B.o.B's "Nothin' on You" and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire"; both songs reached within the top ten of charts worldwide. Following this success, on May 11, 2010 Bruno released his debut extended play, titled “It's Better If You Don't Understand”. The EP reached at the 99th position on the Billboard 200 and produced one single, "The Other Side", featuring singers Cee Lo Green and B.o.B. He again collaborated with Green in August 2010 by co-writing his single "Fuck You!". He performed a medley of "Nothin' on You" and "Airplanes" with B.o.B and Hayley Williams at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, 2010.
2010 to present has been the "big-bang" in his career. Bruno Mars' debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans, was released on October 5, 2010. The lead single, "Just the Way You Are", was released on July 19, 2010, and has reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 as well as several other charts worldwide.  The second single, "Grenade", was released September 28, 2010, and has also seen successful international chart performance.  In the United States, Doo-Wops & Hooligans debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 for the week of October 13, 2010 also the album received generally positive reviews from critics.

Mars won his first Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance, having received six nominations; Best Rap Song and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Nothin' on You", Record of the Year for "Nothin' on You" and "Fuck You", Song of the Year for "Fuck You", and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical at the 53rd Grammy Awards, On February 13, 2011.

On September 16, 2011, Bad Meets Evil released their single, "Lighters", which featured Mars in the song. The song was met with mixed reviews from critics. His new song "It Will Rain"; released on November 8, 2011 became the The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack. On October 30, 2011, Mars gave an exclusive performance of "Runaway Baby" on the results show of The X Factor UK, the same day that Mars received six nominations for a Grammy Award; Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Doo-Wops & Hooligans, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for "Grenade", and Producer of the Year, Non-Classical at the 54th Grammy Awards. During the ceremony, Mars performed "Runaway Baby" but he did not win any awards as Adele won in all the categories he was nominated in and also defeated by Paul Epworth for Producer of the Year.

Mostly, he had reached his zenith of success at his age of 26 and he humbly says: “This is just the beginning for me, and I know that. But I have so much more to go and so much more to show.”
